Show Synopsis 

Disney’s Finding Nemo JR. is a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.

Summer Production Camp Experience

This Rising Star Academy Summer Camp Production offers a fast-paced but FUN education in musical theatre: singing, dancing, and acting, while working towards a culminating production of Disney's Finding Nemo JR. As a part of the KOS Academy division, everyone who registers will receive an on stage role. Through pre-camp rehearsals and the one-week production camp, cast members will receive training in acting, singing, and dance technique. They will learn theatrical terminology and etiquette, and they will build confidence and explore their creative side in a brave, encouraging, and challenging environment. At the end of our rehearsal time together, cast members will showcase their learning in a fully produced production with costumes, sets, props, lights, and special effects!

Tuition, Other Costs, & Fundraising 

Tuition for this summer camp is $135 per cast member. This production fee will include one week of musical theater instruction, pre-camp rehearsals, a cast t-shirt, and the production script.  Financial assistance and payment plans are available. Please email parker@gckidsonstage.org for info. Costumes may require a costume fee to cover rentals, alterations, cleaning, and other associated costs. 

Due to the participation cost associated with our program compared to the high cost of producing a production, several fundraisers are required of the cast. Parents may pay a buy-out fee of $250 to not have to participate in any of the planned fundraisers. You can read more about the planned Finding Nemo JR fundraisers here.

Most costumes will require a costume fee for cleaning, alterations, rental fees, or materials. These fees will be sent with the costume breakdowns for each cast member.

Tickets to the performance will be available to parents for purchase prior to the public sale for $10 each.

Schedule & Rehearsal Attendance 

A full rehearsal schedule is attached below. Please look over it closely to make sure your child has minimal conflicts with the rehearsal process and zero conflicts with camp week and show dates. After completing the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email with an opportunity to tell our Production Team of any known conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. We will take note of these and plan accordingly.

This Summer Camp is one week long with a few pre-camp rehearsals. Pre-Camp rehearsals allow the cast and crew to lay a solid foundation before camp begins as well as prepare any needed set, costumes, and props before camp begins.  ​

Auditions

No experience is needed to participate in this Rising Star Summer Camp production and everyone will receive a role. Auditions for Disney's Finding Nemo JR will take place on June 4th from 2-6 PM at the Greene County Wellness Center. Cast members will be sent scenes & songs to prepare. They will be asked to sing, dance, and act using materials provided ahead of the audition. Materials will be sent closer to the audition date. At home practice for these auditions will be super important because we want cast members to be confident with the material and also perform their very best, however, remember that everyone will get a role in the end. We hope these are low-pressure/low-stakes experiences for our Rising Stars!
