How Do I Get Involved?
Mainstage KOS is our premier audition only performance experience. Auditions will be open to cast members ages 3-18. However, we will not be able to take all those that audition. The standard KOS No-Cut Policy will not apply. Those wishing to audition must pre-register before the deadline and a non-refundable audition fee of $10 will be due at the time of auditions and will be applied to the production fee of $110.
Following auditions, the cast list will be sent out to all those that auditioned. Those cast will have 48 hours to accept their role before the next person in line is offered the role. After being cast, the remaining balance of the production fee, $100, will be due at the first rehearsal.
How Will Auditions Be Held?
Auditions for Mainstage will take place in three different groups on January 22, 2022. Audition requirements will be tailored for each age group. Auditions will take place on the same day and auditioners can expect the cast list at the latest a week from the audition. We will send out preparation materials by January 3rd.
Ages 3-7: This age group will only be required to come in for an hour and a half group experience to audition. This is designed to be low pressure, think of it as a trial rehearsal. These auditioners will be sent a clip of a song and lyrics. Parents are encouraged to listen to the song on repeat on the road, at home, etc. Repetition is key at this age. We want them to feel super comfortable with the song prior to the audition. During our time together, our team will lead a warm up (getting to know you activity), a music lesson (learning the song), and teach a really simple dance combination.
Audition Time: 9:30-11:00 AM
Ages 8-12: At this level, those wishing to audition will be asked to attend a two and a half hour open call audition with everyone in this age category. In the audition registration confirmation email, a list of characters will be provided and their associated songs and scenes. During the audition, our Choreographer will teach a short combination to see how auditioners move and pick up choreography. Formal dance training is not required to be a part of Mainstage! nor is a proficiency in dance. Following the dance call, each auditioner will be required to sing a song (solo) and read a scene (with a group) for their desired character.
Audition Time: 11:30-3:00 PM

Tuition & Fundraising
Tuition for this session of Mainstage is $110 per cast member including the $10 audition fee. This production fee will include three months of musical theater instruction, a cast t-shirt, and script. Financial assistance and payment plans are available. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for info.
Due to the participation cost associated with our program compared to the high cost of producing a production, several fundraisers are required of the cast. Parents may pay a buy-out fee of $250 to not have to participate in any of the planned fundraisers.
COVID-19 Precautious & Updates
Keeping our cast members safe is our number one priority. See the policies below that we plan to have in place in the spring:
Wellness Policy: If a child or staff member is exhibiting symptoms including fever, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, vomiting, or dry cough or has had these symptoms in the past fourteen days, we request they stay home and do not attend rehearsal. If a cast member is exhibiting symptoms during rehearsal, parents will be notified and they must be picked up within one hour. They will need a doctor’s note to be readmitted.
Sanitizing: Our Dream Team will be sanitizing high-touch areas like door handles, restrooms, etc. throughout the day as students are in the rehearsal room.
A full COVID safety plan will be sent out with the cast list.
Schedule & Rehearsal Attendance
A full rehearsal schedule is attached below. Please look over it closely to make sure your cast member has minimal conflicts with the rehearsal process and zero conflicts with tech week and show dates. At auditions, please make sure to note any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule on the audition form.
This rehearsal schedule only calls those needed for rehearsals. Once the show is cast, you'll be able to mark for which rehearsals your cast member will be needed given their character.
Finally, please remember a musical is a living, breathing entity. Things don't always go exactly as planned, so changes in the plan will be made throughout the rehearsal process. We promise to give you as much advanced notice as possible on all changes that arise.
